Joan Clayton was virtually executed in the show for the same stuff, because the townspeople were blaming her for all the cattle dying, due to her witchcraft & abortions. It seems like it’s less & less likely that the intention was for her to be interpreted as Joan of Arc, which is a bit of a bummer.
